Our Traditions

As Catholic military women, our lives are steeped in tradition. Check out these MCCW traditions from over the years to see which ones you remember and which ones we need to revive.

  • Prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel: Adapted from the National Council of Catholic Women, this prayer evokes the intercession of MCCW’s patroness and is prayed at MCCW meetings and events and in many chapel-level women’s ministries.
  • Rosary for Warriors: Developed by MCCW member Lynda MacFarland, these intentions draw our attention to our service members deployed in harm’s way and their families.
  • Chapel Banners: These beautiful works of love and of art were brought to MCCW events to dress up the meeting space.
  • Skit Night: Presented by chapel groups, these hilarious skits added laughter and sometimes tears to special MCCW gatherings.
  • Prayer Sisters: Sisters in Christ giving the free gift of prayer to one another adds a special element to MCCW retreats.
  • The MCCW Blessing Song: Sung at the end of MCCW events, this prayer sends women on their way with a special blessing.

Lyrics: May the blessing of God be upon you, the blessing of the Father and the Son, and may the Spirit of Love, the Spirit of God, be with you all your days.

  • Illuminated Rosary: A candlelit rosary is a beautiful element at many MCCW events.
