CWOC Resources
A full complement of resources available to our members.
All who believed were together and shared all things in common. Acts 2:44
These pages are full of time-tested, military-specific information that we believe in because we have used it ourselves. The Catholic Women of the Chapel (CWOC) model has been around for decades and it works! It has been helping women be the visible presence of Christ in their communities and we are excited to see it work in your community, too.
The fact that you are here means you are interested in starting or growing a women’s ministry. And starting and growing women’s ministry means more women will be led to Christ and that is truly exciting!
If you are just getting started, download the CWOC Sourcebook – A Guide to Starting and Growing Catholic Women’s Ministry in Your Community– read it, take notes on it, and share it with others who share your vision of a flourishing women’s ministry!
If you are a CWOC veteran, there is something here for you too, from retreat planning guides to how-tos for common Catholic devotions.
Bible and Faith studies are foundational to women’s ministry. We have assembled a list of recommended Catholic studies. If your chapel has had particular success with a study, please share that with us, and we will update this list! The list is organized topically. In addition, there is a section of Catholic books for which MCCW ladies have written their own study questions. If you have written a study, please share that with us so that we can make it available to MCCW women everywhere. For example, the Rome Sweet Home Study was adapted from the Ft. Leavenworth Women of St. Ignatius.
Discernment is an honest review of all aspects of a decision to be made and then with prayer, meditation, and input, we arrive at the best possible decision. We have many helpful downloads available for any potential nominee discerning a Servant-Leadership position on Military Council of Catholic Women (MCCW) or Catholic Women of the Chapel (CWOC) Boards at any level. We encourage you to learn more, consider your own situation and open your heart to the Lord’s purpose for your within the MCCW sisterhood.
MCCW relies on the generous support of our military chapels through designated offerings to make its programming and resources available to all military-affiliated women and chapels. Funds received from designated offerings help MCCW provide many critical programs, support, resources and service.
Find out how your chapel can schedule a designated offering by reviewing the many resources we have available to get to you started including letters of support from AMS, examples and FAQs.
Mothers Prayers is a worldwide movement of women who gather to pray for our children. Praying helps us to learn to trust God more. Amazing things happen when we call upon the Lord with one voice and one purpose, imploring His divine assistance. Lives are changed; God will be glorified.
MCCW-Worldwide’s coordinator for Mothers Prayers is Claudia Metcalf.
Mothers Prayers is a litany where women gather to pray collectively and individually for our children – our personal children and the next generation of God’s Kingdom. This is a powerful ministry to join or begin at your local chapel group.
Contact us below to start a Mothers Prayer group in your community or to order Mothers Prayers booklets.
A book club is a great way to build community in your chapel. You can select books to meet the ministry needs of your chapel. For example, Forming Intentional Disciples and Rediscovering Catholicism are great reads to build a ministry. If your book club seeks to reach a broader audience, you might consider including fiction and non-fiction.
You can find resources for previous MCCW book clubs below. Please note, that these books are only suggestions to either use for a local book group, or for your own growth. Some of the books are very good and some are not. Some are specifically Catholic, some are not. However, they all allow for rich discussion within our chapel groups. Should you have questions on how to facilitate a once a month book read at your own chapel, do not hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to assist.
We’re happy to help with digital media. Here are some resources to get your creative communication going!
The sample flyers were made with a free app – Post to My Wall.
This free app will help you create flyers for Facebook and Instagram. You can save the flyers as JPEGS and print them off as postcard or bulletin inserts. The samples include monthly calendar, a summer schedule, Catholic, and ecumenical events.
The logos provided were made with love by past-president Marcia Stokes. Feel free to use and reproduce. If you have created an MCCW or CWOC logo, please share it with us. We would love to share your designs with our larger community!
