Faye’s Flamingle: An Auction for Our Promised Priests
MCCW’s first ever hybrid auction connected members from around the globe for this annual tradition of financially supporting our perpetual charity: the MCCW Endowed Co-Sponsored Seminarian Scholarship. Over 115 individuals participated for the in-person event, and an additional fifty bidders joined the festivities online. Donations for the event came in from locations around the globe and included antiques, vacation rentals, talks with our seminarians, and…. even a can of spam signed by Archbishop Broglio!
We were united with the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS) clergy and our Forum Vendors as video clips were shared during the live auction event. The videos shared encouraging messages from AMS Bishop Spencer, co-sponsored seminarians, and deacons. A moving mini documentary, “Bringing Fr. Kapaun Home,” was also viewed and can be found at Fr. Kapaun Comes Home | Mini Documentary
These video clips inspired each individual present in the room to commit $10 to kick off the live auction in support of our promised priests. Auction items also included a tribute to Servants of God Fr. Joseph LaFleur, Fr. Emil Kapaun, and Fr. Vincent Capodanno. These three auction items generated over $2,070 alone! As the night continued, the bidding excitement was shared by all in attendance with live auction items representing each of the MCCW Regions.
Faye’s Flamingle, MCCW’s first ever hybrid auction, was a grand success as we surpassed our initial fundraising goal and raised over $11,000!!! However, I would argue that this number represents so much more than money. It is symbolic of the hours spent in prayer by so many of you for our priest-chaplains who work constantly to support our military flock. It is symbolic of the hours of work spent in raising and encouraging children to be open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit in their lives to pursue a vocation. And most of all, it is symbolic of your great faith. You have brought the loaves and fishes, and you trust that God will multiply your efforts for His great glory!
Continue to support vocations to the priesthood.
Continue to pray for our Promised Priests each and every day.
O Lord of the Harvest,
Continue to sustain the generous response of the AMS co-sponsored seminarians.
Enflame Your Spirit within them and guide their formation.
Enlarge their hearts to make them all things for all people,
because you are the Lord of all who lives and reigns forever and ever.
Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D.
