Prayers for Promised Priests: Uniting Across the Archdiocese Where the Sun Never Sets

For the second year in a row, MCCW will be hosting Prayers for Promised Priests, a 24-hour Prayer Vigil in the Archdiocese where the sun never sets. Emulating the persistent widow from the parable in Luke’s gospel, we will bring to the Lord our intentions for the AMS Co-Sponsored Seminarians and all promised priests who may be called upon to serve our armed forces.

The prayer vigil will take place November 5th-6th starting at 3:00pm EST via Zoom. All women who desire to take on a heart of spiritual maternity are invited to participate.

A new MCCW hostess will take over at the top of each hour, so participants can come to pray at any time and for any duration they wish. Spend a holy hour with us before Mass, maybe even twenty minutes in your living room with your children, or perhaps you can sanctify your CQ shift. Our Catholic community extends to over 200 locations across the globe, and thus we will be wrapping the world in petition!

Joining us again this year will be Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio for a special keynote address, as well as many of our priests, seminarians, and guest speakers to share their stories. A schedule will be made available on social media around November 1st.

Elsewhere in the gospel of Luke Jesus teaches,

So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Luke 11:9-10

Your prayers are powerful! In 2008 there were seven men enrolled as Co-Sponsored Seminarians. Today there are forty. 2008 just so happens to also be the same year that MCCW formally took on the mantle of spiritual maternity for the AMS Co-Sponsored Seminarian program. Coincidence? Definitely not!

Be sure to check out this February 2020 newsletter with the history of our relationship of support.

If you or your chapel group would like to sign up to host an hour, please let us know at vocations@mccw.org (Madeline Stockman) or faithformation@mccw.org (Kitty Eisenbeil)

Prayers for Promised Priests will be our kick-off for National Vocation Awareness Week. Following the Vigil, we will be highlighting other vocations (deacons, sisters, lay third orders, etc.) on our social media and YouTube pages. Make sure you’re subscribed now, so you don’t miss out!

In Christ,
