Dear Sisters in Christ,
In the midst of an uncertain year, there have been abundant blessings, too. Our shared challenges led the MCCW board to think about how we can support, accompany, mentor, and build up Catholic, military-affiliated women whose paths intersect with ours.
One of the ways we are hoping to accompany and support you is through our at-home, regional retreats. Scheduled for Thursday, April 8-Sunday, April 11, you will experience this Spring event right in the comfort of your home.
While our five U.S. regions are hosting specific retreats, all our events are online and accessible to all women served by MCCW. If you don’t happen to live in the Pacific, Western, Central, Southeastern, or Northeastern region, you are still invited to pick a region and journey with us as we reflect on how each of us is called to embrace sainthood.
This page is designed to prepare you to get the most out of our at-home retreat experiences. Give it a good read and make plans to join us for one or more of the activities.
Yours in Christ,
Kim Miller,
President 2020-2022

Join Yo
ur Heart In Prayer & Preparation
Here are some tips to help you step away from your daily stresses and immerse yourself in a time of quiet, prayer, and reflection as you prepare for your at-home retreat:
Block out the Time: Spend some time prayerfully reviewing the schedule for your region’s retreat and decide when and how you will block out the time to participate. Setting aside time may look different for each of us. We may need to pre-arrange childcare, take time off work, or delegate family responsibilities.
Prepare your Retreat Space: Dedicate a space in your home where you will participate in the retreat. Think creatively about a space where you will experience the fewest interruptions and can find the quiet you need to pray. Prepare that space by ensuring you have somewhere comfortable to sit and access the internet. A day or two before the retreat, gather items like your rosary, bible, prayer cards, or a journal that you might want during the retreat.
Make Time for Confession: A retreat is a wonderful opportunity to deepen and strengthen your relationship with God. One of the best ways to prepare for that is through receiving the sacrament of reconciliation. Make time to do this before the retreat so you will be in a state of grace and open to the work God wants to do in you during your retreat.
Pray and Reflect on the Retreat Scripture: Spend some time in prayer reflecting on Matthew 5:12, the scripture that inspired the theme for these retreats with this reflection from retired military chaplain Father Redmond Raux, the pastor of St. George Catholic Community, Patrick Air Force Base.

- Join the MCCW regional Facebook group for your region of choice. You will be able to participate in any region’s group simply by joining. These are private groups where some of the virtual activities will occur. Be sure to answer the membership questions for faster access!
- Subscribe to the MCCW’s YouTube channel. This will ensure you catch our speaker talks, Mass recordings, and even those timeless and heartfelt MCCW devotions that you have been missing since last year.
- Don’t worry about registering! That’s right. You heard us. The regional retreats are free to attend and no registration is required.
- Complete your Prayer Sister Registration Form. If you are interested in participating in a special virtual Prayer Sisters program, though, you will still need to opt-in via a regionally aligned form between March 15 -April 1.
- Download the printable, digital program for your selected region. About a week before the event, you’ll be able to access a beautiful digital program for your region’s retreat. It will include welcome letters, schedules, daily reflections, and more, you can view and use the program online or print it out to take to your retreat space.
- Organize a small group gathering. We know that restrictions and limits on gatherings differ from place to place. Do you live in an area where small group gatherings are allowed? If so, consider gathering your women’s ministry or a group of friends for portions of the retreat. You could gather in someone’s home or ask your local chapel or parish for a space to meet. If April weather in your area is nice, you could even consider a peaceful outdoor setting in which to gather.
