From the Pacific Region
A Warm Aloha to You All,
I hope you all have enjoyed a blessed summer. In the Pacific Region, the catholic women of the chapel groups have been participating and providing faithful events over these summer months. Many of the Pacific regional CWOCs held celebrations, retreats, and reflections in honor of the 100th anniversary of our Lady of Fatima. The CWOCS held discernments and beautiful installation ceremonies introducing their new 2017-2018 leadership. The leadership are eager to provide faith formation studies providing the opportunity for ladies to dive deeper in their Catholic understanding and relationship with our Lord.
In Alaska, the abundance of sunlight and warmth has provided great opportunities for the CWOCs to take their faith outdoors. Fort Wainwright CWOC began hosting “Picnic, Prayers, and Playground.” In addition, the Wainwright CWOC began a catholic book club starting with “Divine Mercy for Moms” with their next book discussion on “The Four Keys to Everlasting Love; How Your Catholic Marriage Can Bring Joy for a Lifetime.” The Eielson CWOC hosted Meg Hunter-Kilmer for a presentation on Sainthood and the importance of reconciliation and adoration.
In Korea, Osan CWOC sponsored a Marian consecration study. They opened this study to all parishioners and on the conclusion of the study held roses and processed through the base on the Feast of Corpus Christi. Over the summer, the Yongsan CWOC ladies have been enjoying studying Bishop Barron’s, “Pivotal Prayers” and most recently hosted a pilgrimage to the Danggogae Martyrs Shrine. In Japan, The Kadena CWOC ladies continue to have their Thursday morning Catholic play group. Also, the Kadena CWOC supported a totally Catholic Vacation Bible School.
In Hawaii, all the CWOC ladies have been joining together and participating in “First Friday Roving Rosary.” Every first Friday of the month, the ladies meet on a beach to pray the rosary together. This summer, Schofield Barracks began hosting bi-weekly “popsicles in the park.” The ladies meet at parks on Schofield Barracks, handing out popsicles to those in the community and sharing about our Catholic faith and CWOC. AMR CWOC held a month long in-depth charism workshop which was extremely fruitful for the ladies. The AMR CWOC have been meeting on Thursday evenings discussing “Courageous Love, a bible study on holiness for women.” Hickam CWOC participated in a service project together taking a collection for Mary Jane Home, a local catholic charity house that provides housing and educational opportunity to pregnant women needing a safe place to live.
The Pacific Regional Catholic Women of the Chapel Groups have been a visible vibrant presence in our local and military communities. The groups all have exciting faith formation studies planned for the upcoming year! I encourage you to attend your local upcoming CWOC kick off events and invite a friend! The Northeast closed out the spring with a fantastic retreat entitled “’Unplug and Recharge’ living like Mary in a World of Martha Demands”. The retreat had over 100 ladies in attendance from up and down the eastern seaboard.

Welcome to all our women who are meeting us at THE WELL on this Feast of our Blessed Mother in honor of her Assumption. I pray everyone has arrived their duty stations and have had PCS moves that have outcomed well since we all know the stress-and sometimes surprises-we receive once we arrive and begin to make our houses the homes we need them to be.
