Book Recommendation — June
One of our MCCW board members recently read this book and really enjoyed it. While it is technically classified as a young adult novel (which makes it an easy read), it’s absolutely serious enough to recommend to any Catholic reader. There is even a sequel set in Scotland.
Written by Catholic former Army brat Ashlee Cowles, the story follows a teenage Army brat who walks the Camino de Santiago through Spain to honor her brother, a soldier who was wounded in Afghanistan. The main character comes from a very Catholic family (dad is a chaplain’s assistant), but this pilgrimage is about her journey to develop her own faith in the face of fear, death, adulthood, and love.
The book was a winner of the 2017 Colorado Book Award.

Welcome to all our women who are meeting us at THE WELL on this Feast of our Blessed Mother in honor of her Assumption. I pray everyone has arrived their duty stations and have had PCS moves that have outcomed well since we all know the stress-and sometimes surprises-we receive once we arrive and begin to make our houses the homes we need them to be.
