President’s Pen: November 2022
MCCW is charged by Archbishop Broglio in two distinct areas: 1. inspired evangelization and faith formation for women and families and 2. supporting an increase of vocations, primarily through annual funding for our perpetual charity–the co-sponsored seminarian scholarship. To carry out this part of our mission, we must occasionally seek the vital philanthropic funding that enables us to provide training at the grassroots chapel level and to create positive impact by supporting vibrant spiritual learning and empowerment in our military faith communities.
We carry out this philanthropic effort in several ways, including annual designated offerings in the spring, grant funding, and campaigns such as the #iGiveCatholic Giving Tuesday program and our Advent and Lenten appeals. From time to time, we must also ask our own MCCW community to support us through donations to our operating fund. These events comprise the bulk of our yearly fundraising activities. Our records are fully transparent, and we operate on a minimal annual budget.
Without your generous support, we cannot succeed in our mission.
Now is just such a time–we are excited to launch our first-ever capital campaign, the Circle of Saints giving circle, which invites our community to commit to a recurring monthly donation at varying levels. This helps us have increased fidelity on our monthly operating budget and allows us to strategically plan for new endeavors and initiatives that bring Christ to women and their families at the chapel level across all military branches.
With immense gratitude, we humbly ask you to visit mccw.org/support to learn more about our current campaign and prayerfully discern if God is calling you to partner with us to help build His kingdom. We will share more this month on social media and as part of our #iGiveCatholic campaign.
It is also with gratitude and hope that we are thrilled to share the success of our second annual Prayers for Promised Priests prayer vigil for the increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Over twenty-five hours, we had more than 800 women and clergy engage with our efforts as we kicked off National Vocations Awareness Week. We prayed across all the time zones and were united in our petitions for vocations. Archbishop Broglio and Bps. Coffey and Muhm all provided messages, and we were blessed with the real-time presence of several of our clergy and recordings from our seminarians.
If you missed any of the content for our Prayers for Promised Priests, much of the content is available on our YouTube channel. We hope you will join us the rest of this month and at all times in praying for those discerning our Lord’s call to a religious vocation.
Thank you for your faithful support of our mission, and we pray with you as we approach the blessing of Advent.
In Christ,
Bevin
