For more than 60 years, MCCW has been led by dedicated volunteers – caring, generous military-affiliated women who have given their time, talent, and treasure to help their sisters in Christ grow in their Catholic faith.

This continues today with talented teams working at the Worldwide and Regional levels to produce MCCW programs, events, and resources.

MCCW Awards

A Legacy of Service

Sheila Baker Award

Mary Ann Ernst Award

St. Joan of Arc Award

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award

Many remarkable women have served MCCW and the women of the Archdiocese for the Military Services during MCCW’s more-than-60-year history. The Sheila Baker and MaryAnn Ernst Awards were created to honor the legacy of two very special women and recognize the contributions made by women in the organization today. The St. Joan of Arc and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Awards, developed in 2024, honor young women, ages 18-39, who make a difference in the wider military community or in their local chapel. Nominations are taken every two years and the recipients are announced at MCCW’s Worldwide Forum.

Discernment

MCCW uses discernment, a prayerful way of making decisions, as its method for selecting its new leaders.

MCCW discernment is done in two parts: a personal discernment process that gives a possible servant leader a guide to praying and talking with God about the decision; and a group prayer service during which potential leaders share their gifts and talents and new leaders are selected.

So that MCCW can continue to connect, unite, and inspire military women worldwide in the best way, MCCW discernment happens on a rolling, staggered schedule. There is always an opportunity to answer the call to serve.

For more assistance with MCCW discernment, please email our Discernment Coordinator at [email protected].

Worldwide board positions are typically two year positions, per our MCCW-Worldwide bylaws. This year, select positions will have a special one-year term to realign our board to the “Selection of the Board of Directors” method as outlined in the bylaws. This means that moving forward, as was done in the past and as is mandated by our bylaws, half of the board will discern during a Forum year and half will discern in a non-Forum year, which provides continuity and mentorship for the new board.

Available worldwide board positions that may only be filled by active-duty service members or the female spouse of an active duty service member:

  • Director of Finance – 2 year term
  • Director of Marketing – 2 year term

Regional Positions Available 2024

Many women discerned into regional team positions in 2023, but there is still room to serve in many of our regions:

  • Pacific Region – Communications & Liturgist
  • Southeastern Region – All positions available (Regional Coordinator, Communications, Liturgist)
  • Asian Region – All positions available (Regional Coordinator, Communications, Liturgist)
  • Northeastern Region – Regional Coordinator
