President’s Message – September 2022
Dear Sisters in Christ,
It is hard to believe we will shortly flip our calendars to October. Here in NC, fall is blowing in a refreshing respite from the long summer. I know that the heat may linger for many, and it will likely seem that not much has changed. For others in Florida and the southeast, dealing with the aftermath of the recent hurricane will distract them from the change in seasons. However, collectively we are entering a time that points us toward the end of the liturgical year and beyond to Advent.
I encourage you to decide now to more fully contemplate the weekly Masses in the new liturgical year. MCCW is ready to help you on your spiritual journey as we put the finishing touches on the 2023 Mass Journals. Plan now to participate with your local women’s bible study, CWOC, or a small group of friends by ordering and using our new edition of the Mass Journal. It includes space for prayer intentions, Lectio Divina, meditation, and notes. Read more about the Mass Journals in the newsletter and be sure to order your copy soon.
We are also excited to be finishing a refresh of our website. It’s been several years since we had a new look, and MCCW is overdue for a new palette and design. Be on the lookout for the launch in October.
I close with a note of encouragement. I’ve only been in the new community for a few weeks, and the women of faith here are already building a vibrant experience for Catholic women. Most recently, discussion in our book study had us consider the broken world around us and our individual call to live holy lives amid the disorder and darkness. It was so encouraging to consider the scriptural assurance that we can live in this world and not be conformed to it. Jesus is the light of the world, and the darkness cannot overcome His light.
Go forward with great confidence that we can change the world by sharing His light and love as we connect, unite, and inspire each other in our military faith communities around the world.
In Christ,
Bevin
